CHE PLAYOFFS: RMU Advances....

Sunday would find the Colonials in a simular position as last season as they would face off against Fredonia in the playoffs.. RMU and Fredonia have qualified for the National tournament and hold the #2 and #3 spot in the CHE. RMU holds the 2-0 advantage in season play and looked to make it a perfect 3-0 to get to the finals..
A slow and sloppy first period found the Colonials up 1-0 with a Erik Manetta shot that gets by Fredonia Goalie Jay Hall. The second period would find the Colonials on a powerplay and with some help... Fredonia hooked its way into a 5-3. RMU would take advantage and score two powerplay goals as Gary Delehanty and Dan Clark find the twine behind Hall. One minute later Jeremy Martin would sneak one past Hall to give RMU a 4-0 lead. Fredonia would answer with a Powerplay goal and add a 5-5 goal to get 2 in the second. RMU wasn't done, Eric Bogden, Jeremy Martin, Jack Erath, and Broc McCroskey would all add second period goals to give RMU a 8-2 advantage with 20 minutes remaining. Erik Manetta would light the lamp again in the third and Fredonia would get one past Matt Wynn to make it a 9-3 Final.
Matt Wynn made 28 saves in the win.
Brenden Boyle lead all players with a 5 point night.

RMU meets Cal U in a 3 game final starting Friday night.

RMU BACK TO NATIONALS!!!!!!

Robert Morris is headed back to the the National Championship!

RMU wins Regionals and sets sights on Holland, MI for NATIONALS.

The ACHA Atlantic Regional Finals were held at the Delmont Arena March 18-19th.

RMU met #10 Seed PSU Brandywine in the first round. Brandywine off a second semester 6-1 record took an early 1-0 lead over RMU early Friday night. RMU answered 2 times in the first period, and dominated the next 2 periods as RMU rolls to the finals with a 5-1 win.
RMU out shot PSU 51-21.

RMU would need to beat the #6 seed PSU Altoona for the 3rd time this season to "EARN A CHANCE TO DANCE" at the National Tourney.
PSU came out flying and ready to play, but RMU stuck first with an early first period goal. PSU would get one back late in the period to tie the first 1-1. RMU would get the only goal in the second to take a 2-1 lead into the 3rd period. With 20 minutes to play Altoona struck first in the third, 2-2 with 13 minutes to play.... RMU would take the lead back 47 seconds later and cap off the win with a PowerPlay goal to seal the deal 4-2.
RMU out shot PSU 36-28 and didn't lose a period of hockey all weekend!

RMU Regular season comes to a close.....

The 2010-2011 seasons comes to a close with a convincing win at Fredonia University.
RMU should find themselves ranked 3rd in the Atlantic Conference and 2nd in the CHE standings. A 16-5-1 record is a strong showing, but the real season starts at regionals Feb 18th and 19th. RMU will face the #10 ranked Atlantic team in a match to go to Nationals. RMU will again be looking to play their way into Nationals and make a mark as one of the top teams in the country.
CHE could come down to a re-match from last season. RMU will have to knock out FSU again to get to the finals, but after a strong showing at Steel Hall.... We are looking to get there.. one shift at a time!

Thank you to everyone for the support and we look forward to pushing the rest of the season to the limit!

The Classic.. CHE WINS THE CUP!

After a slow start dropping a game against West Chester and only getting 1 point in the process, the Colonials did there part to take over POOL B.
RMU jumped on Richmond early and took a 3-0 lead to the locker room after 1.
RMUs sloppy play saw Richmond put 4 straight into RMU's net... At the 9:17 mark Broc McCroskey shelved a back hand to put the Colonials up 5-4 after 2.
The third period would find the Colonials with many opportunities, and connecting on two of them. Manetta and Hosko sealed the deal to push the Colonials ahead, 7-4.

On to Sunday: Albany.... Game of the weekend for the Colonials!
RMU out skated the Great Danes to every puck.... Jason Hosko opened the scoring up with a PP goal on the first PP of the night! Will Rose would finish an Eric Bogden feed to have the Colonials up 2-0 after one. More of the same in the second.... Brenden Boyle wouldn't be denied as he smokes goaltender C. Farrell to have the lead jump to 3. Albany would hit the board with a defensive zone breakdown late in a shift to make it 3-1....
Gary Delehanty would add a PP goal (MALKIN STYLE) off the face off to move the Colonials up 4-1 and that is how it would finish..
The PK was incredible over the 3 games... 9-10 kills and a few 5-3s!

Was a great weekend of hockey and team building.

Congrats to CAL U, Fredonia, and PSU Altoona... as the CHE wins the cup!

CLASH....... at Consol Energy Center.

DIVISION III Heavy weights squared off
at CONSOL ENERY CENTER

Robert Morris took another first period lead into the locker room after one period to watch the lead slip away at the Consol Energy Center Thursday night. The final score of the game was 7-5 in favor of the #1 ranked Cal U men's team. The game hosted over 2600 fans that were treated to a very exciting game.
The teams were both honored and emotional as a very nice tribute/ceremony for Patrick McIlvain was given. McIlvain is a former Cal U Hockey player who enlisted in the military and was critically wounded while in combat in Afghanistan.
RMU was glad to be a part of the event and Thank Pat and his family for the Military service and wish them the best!

Thank you to the CAL U Staff for the opportunity...

SEE YA NEXT YEAR??????
